Citing the influences of Etta James, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Dr. John, Herbie Hancock, Mavis Staples etc, Susan Wylde possesses a multi faceted alto voice that she commands with authority. Wylde has been nominated for a Canadian Independent Music Award, an E World Music award, and an Ontario and a Toronto Indy Music award. She has also been a finalist in the International songwriting contest. Susan is the creator/producer/artistic director for Goddess Charity Concerts that have raised thousands of dollars for various charities. A track from her last CD Shambhala was selected for the globally released Absolute Voices II that also features Norah Jones, Sarah McLaughlin, Sade, Alison Krauss.
Her new CD - the blues infused “In The Light” co-produced by Wylde and guitarist Jack deKeyzer, contains 12 tracks equally split between a range of covers and her vibrant and witty originals. The album is being played on top blues, roots and jazz radio stations in over 25 countries across the globe - including Canada, USA, Europe(both western and eastern), UK, South America, Asia and Australia. It has also reached the top 20 on the Roots Music Report, debuted at #16 on the blues charts in France, and enjoys top numbers on various other blues charts around the globe.
Susan Wylde has toured North America, Europe and Asia. She has players she loves to work with, several well-known sidemen, but can also tour as a solo or duo act. She has experience playing festivals, clubs, corporate and private events, any place that appreciates blues and jazz. |
